Wow! Today was crazy at work. First of all, I moved to days and full time instead of PRN nights. I worked one hall myself today. No training for the day shift, just thrown out there on the day district and state stopped by. There is a huge difference between days and nights. There are WAY more meds to pass and more treatments and way more distractions and just stuff in general going on. I didn’t eat, drink, pee, or sit down for my entire 8 hour shift. But I got it all done and I was only there an hour and forty-five minutes after my shift ended. I have a really great boss who helps me be confident lol. It’s a hard job to take care of 25 dementia patient’s for 8 hours! I got a great education and did really well in school and clinicals so I know that I can do this. Sometimes, I just have to remember that and channel my inner energy and run!
I watched this on Monday when it aired but I haven’t had time to review it with work and all. One of my favorite things about watching the bachelor is the live tweeting from The Bachelor and BAchelorette alumni. I follow all my favorite people from the show, stalker-esc, I know. The all have public twitter accounts so I took some screen shots of my favorite tweets to share with this review. Also, I am not sure why but the episode didn’t play is good quality on my computer for some reason so the screen shots I got from the episode are really not very good. But here goes.
The first date was a one on one with Lesley M. They went to Ripley’s Believe it or not where Sean reviled that his dad holds a Guinness world record. Then, as a surprise to Lesley, they set their own world record for the longest on screen kiss. Which was excruciating to watch. Who is the random couple in the top left of the next picture? haha.
The hubby will kinda watch with me for a little bit while we eat dinner. He really doesn’t have a choice because we are usually eating at the time the show comes on. Anyways, he asked if he had the record with another girl, would it be ok to display it in the house. Heck yes. Thats cool.
I think they make a gorgeous couple. Of course, Lesley got the rose.
The second date was a group date where the girls played a volley ball game and the winning team got to go back to Sean’s place while the loosing team had to go home. Kacie, Robyn, Leslie H., Kristy, Catherine, Desiree, Taryn, Amanda, Lindsay, Daniella, Jackie, and Tierra were all invited to the date. Kacie, Robyn, Desiree, Amanda, Lindsay, and Jackie were on the team who won more time with Sean.
I spy product placement. But you know what? I kind of want one of those bikinis. They remind me of Kacie’s dress, which you will see here in a minute 🙂
Lots of tears from the loosing team on this date. I am sure it is frustrating, so I wont pick on crying over a lost game.
While they are all at Sean’s place after the volley ball game, Kacie decided that it would be good strategy to tell Sean about the drama between Desiree and Amanda. It backfired and you can see from this conversation that what interest Sean had in Kacie is lost.
Rachel and Ashley agree with me 🙂
Meanwhile, at the house Tierra plays a mean joke on the girls when the next date card arrives. The third date was for Ashlee Frazier but she read it like it said Ashlee and Salma. Rude. I had to explain to my husband that two on one dates are dreaded because one of the girls always has to go home.
I found Waldo! Elan is a producer on the show and I have grown to really like him. Plus he is dating a former Bachelor girl, who might be the most beautiful girl they have had on the show. That’s saying a lot because there have been so many beautiful girls!
So anyway, while Ashlee is waiting for Sean to get there, Tierra “falls down the stairs”. I don’t know if she did it on purpose or not but she did get some alone time out of it.
Best tweet of the night… (Ashlee is a personal organizer)
So, for Ashlee’s date, they shut down an amusement park for Ashlee, Sean, and two other young girls (I can’t remember their names). The girls have the same disease which causes pain and fatigue and they met online and became friends. They don’t live close to each other so they had never gotten to meet before. The Bachelor teamed up with an organization that brought them together for a fun day at the park. It was really sweet and a total teat jerker.
After the park, Ashlee tells Sean about being adopted. Sean cried as she told the story of her dad telling her that he was going to lover everyday for the rest of her life. She is beautiful inside and out.
Ashley S. is my favorite Bachelor alumni of all time. Why? Because she says things like balls on twitter.
In my opinion, Sean did the most awesome thing on the show in the history of the show. He wanted to show Sarah that he was thinking about her even though they didn’t have a date this week, and he organized her dog coming to the show. Super sweet! The rose ceremony got crazy with all the Sean stealing. I am sure it was flattering to Sean but I have a feeling he wants someone who is more mature and with more class than all these girls who were doing all the butting in on the convo’s. I did feel though that he was relieved when Ashlee and Selma interrupted his conversation with Kacie. You could tell that he was over the entire situation.
So true, Jaclyn, so true.
The three girls going into the rose ceremony with roses were Lesley M., Lindsay Yenter, and Ashlee Frazier. Kacie Boguski, Taryn Daniels, and Krisy Kaminski were eliminated. Sean pulled Kacie aside first to do the eliminating in private. Even though he came back into the ceremony and told all the girls that he just wasn’t that into her.
Do you think he was maybe intimidated by Taryn’s awesomely toned arms?
Ok this season is obviously the season of mini dresses. Let me show you exhibit A, B, C, and D.
There were tons more that I didm’t even get screen shots of! Like, Amanda (at least there were no yellow rose shoulder pads), Robyn, and Kristy to name a few. I’m not hatin, just sayin.
I have a few more things to cross off my 30 by 30 list.
2. Become a licensed nurse. – As of January 8th, I am licensed!
6. Get hired as a nurse. – Started yesterday, January 17th!
23. Blog more consistently. – I have been everyday. Hope to keep it up!
Speaking of blogging more consistently, I have started a new blog called Baby Nurse. It is going to follow me through my first year of nursing. It doesn’t have much on it now but my goal is to update it every day that I work in the next year. The name of the blog came from a nurse who was interviewing me, she called me a baby nurse. I love it, I AM a baby nurse and I am proud of that. I am new, fresh, determined, excited, and I still do everything by the book 🙂
My training went well today. I did med pass for 18 patients! Ugh took forever! Did a few treatments, mostly wound care. And learned the process for sending a patient to the ER. It was a good day it was just extremely busy and a little overwhelming. Mostly trying to get the patient’s names down, there are so many!
Ugh, I am exhausted. I really didn’t do a whole lot so I don’t know why I am so tired. Just orientation (I had so much about Alzheimer’s to relearn) and then after lunch I followed the CNA’s around. That was part of orientation so that I could get to know the patients, and I am not allowed to touch a patient until I have had 8 hours of orientation which is company policy. Tomorrow I will start training with the nurse. I will be on the 6a-2p shift tomorrow and then starting Sunday night, I will be on the 10p-6a shift. There is a resident who groans when he sleeps and it sounds like a ghost. No joke. It is going to make working nights super creepy! I have no clue how I am going to remember everyone’s name. NO CLUE. There are 51 residents. Oh get this, there are 4 house cats who live there! It’s like it was meant to be. Anyhow, I’m gonna make this short and sweet cause I have got to get things done and get to bed early since I have got to be up there at 5:45 in the morning.
I start work tomorrow, so I went and got some scrubs today! I got three pair and a scrub jacket.
The set on the left is Koi by Kathy Peterson in the color steel. The set on the right is Grey’s Anatomy by Barco in the color cabernet heather. The set that I don’t have a picture of is the same as the Koi except in the color navy. The scrub jacket I got is Cherokee in the color pewter. They all fit really well, so much better than the ones they made us wear in nursing school. I gag every time I see a set of hunter green Landaus (not being dramatic at all).
I have everything set out. I’m not going to lie, I had to hunt for my stethoscope and BP cuff. I can’t believe it has been so long since I have used it. I graduated in December but I think I finished Clinicals mid November.
Yay! I’m so excited! Hopefully I will have time to blog tomorrow after work 🙂
The second episode of The Bachelor was on last night, and it didn’t disappoint. I think I am falling in love with Sean. It’s just so soon…
I found this kiss leader board on The Bachelor web page. So funny.
On the second episode of every season, there are a few girls that I missed from the first episode. This is Jackie Parr, and man is she pretty! She did not get a date this week, which sucks cause it was her birthday! Booo, Sean.
Those earrings could be dangerous, just sayin.
So, the first one on one date is with Sarah Herron. Of course, Sean picked her up in a helicopter.
Sean and Sarah took the helicopter and landed on the roof of a 35 floor skyscraper. Why on earth would they do that? To free fall off of it of course. I couldn’t ever be on the bachelor because I would be the one that they pick for that date and I would have to tell them no.
After they fell from the roof, they had champagne and good conversation and Sean gave the rose to Sarah. She took it and sealed it with a kiss, which they just so happened to get up and place themselves in the best position to get the beautiful city in the background…
The second date of the week was a group date. Kristy, Amanda, Brooke, Lesley M., Daniella, Catherine, Robyn, Katie, Selma, Diana, Taryn, Kacie, and Tierra were all invited. Ya’ll gotta agree that Taryn looks like Chelsea Handler, right?
The first part of their date consisted of a photo shoot which was also a contest. The person with the best chemistry with Sean received their pictures on the cover of three Harlequin Romance novels. Kristy is a model and was the most excited. Anyone who says homegirl is alright in my book.
Of course there is drama. I have a feeling that, wherever there is Tierra, there is drama. By the way Tierra, extensions are not as bad as that disgusted look on your face…
I think Sean is catching onto Tierra’s real personality and I think that he probably isn’t going to dig it.
Don’t hate girls, don’t hate. Lesley Murphy got the first kiss of the night and there were some pissed off people staring at her.
At one point during the shoot, Tierra said that she was going to be aggressive towards Sean to show him what she wants. From what I saw, her shoot was pretty lame. Kristy got in there and worked it. It was so hot that some of the girls couldn’t even say anything bad about Kristy. She took the reigns and won the contest.
Ok, I love Kacie. I loved her in Ben’s season. She is funny and cute and for the most part super sweet. I still think that her and Sean would make a great couple. This episode made me think that the producers planted her there to stir up drama or at lease make it more interesting. She was in the middle of most conversations this episode and just seemed to be a little more vindictive than before. I guess we will see how it plays out. After the photo shoot, Sean and the girls go to have a pool party (even though they are all wrapped up in throws and look like they are freezing).
Here is another one who didn’t get much air time the first episode, but after last night I am really digging her. She is really really cute and super sweet.
Lesley M. and Sean go off to have their awkward conversation in the dark. Not sure what went on here, but I know that I am not the only person this annoyed by not being able to see them. Poor Lesley is really awkward and they both talk about kissing but I guess neither one of them wanted to make the first move. But no worries, Lesley M. gets her kiss before the night ends.
Much respect for Katie. She decides by the end of the night that this show isn’t for her and says goodbye to Sean. I don’t know if the mansion didn’t have any yoga mats or what. But really, I think it’s great that she thought enough of herself, Sean, and the other girls to back out and not drag it on.
I am thinking Kacie was a little buzzed by this time. And I don’t know what everyone is talking about, I love her hair. Sean gave her the rose to say that he was glad that she was here and that he really wanted to see where it would go.
Tierra was apparently mad that Kacie got the rose and stated that she wanted to punch her in the face… not nice Tierra.
The final date this week was a one on one with Desiree, who Sean is calling Des by the end of the night. I don’t know about Sean, but I fell in love with Des this episode. I think at this point, Des is the best match for Sean. For the date, Sean takes Desiree to a fake art gallery, where he plays a prank on her. I think I have actually seen this prank on one of those hidden camera shows. Desiree is left alone at some point and a “1.5 million dollar” sculpture falls and shatters all over the floor. Of course the whole thing is staged with actors and the sculpture does not cost 1.5 million dollars. I think Des reacts with this smile on her face when the sculpture falls because it was hideous.
Chris and Sean are watching from another room the entire time. What a couple little jokesters.
After the prank is revealed, Sean takes Des back to “his” mansion for food and deep conversations. They eat at the coffee table, so real. Except I never saw either one of them take a bite.
There is the hot tub! For a minute I was thinking that they must have sold it! Sean offers Desiree a rose and for a minute she acts like she isn’t going to take it. Sean actually looked sad… I love them as a couple.
The night wouldn’t be complete without a make out session in the pool.
Someone must have stolen Amanda’s Wheaties that morning. Something must have happened that we didn’t see because people don’t act like that for no reason, right? Maybe someone commented on the awful shoulders on that dress.
Diana Willardson and Brooke Burchette were eliminated this week. Diana made me sad on her exit interview. She said that she wasn’t enough for Sean. Diana is beautiful and successful and intelligent she is more than enough for any man. I hope she finds a great man soon.
I feel bad that I didn’t get a good pic of Brook at her exit interview. Her exit interview was impressive to me because so many times you see girls leaving in tears crying because they were so in love with a guy they hung out with a handful of times. You could tell Brooke was sad to go but she said that they love just wasn’t there. I just thought that was wise of her to say. Sometimes there are really great guys that come into your life but it never turns into love.
I love this show. I love watching the extravagant dates and the drama in the house and the friendships that spawn from the show! Can’t wait to see what’s in store next week.
I have friends who work in hospitals who are saying that the emergency rooms are packed right now. One hospital even has a tent that is set up outside of the hospital for the clients with flu like symptoms. A couple of Alzheimer’s centers that I have visited in the last week have had signs posted on the doors stating not to come in if you are having flu like symptoms. I have never had the flu before but from what I hear it’s knock your ass on the floor all kinds of terrible. For some reason, the flu has always interested me. With all out advanced technology, why can we not produce a more effective yearly vaccine? We have eradicated so many viruses in my lifetime, why not this one? Why are there so many different strands? Did we do that with antivirals? I would love to be an epidemiologist. Anyhow, I wanted to share an article I read on Medscape.com. Here is what I took from the article:
1. According to the CDC, the flu season is worse at this point in the season than it was last year (doesn’t sound good to me).
2. The most predominate strand so far is the H3N2 at 42.2%.
3. When H3N2 is the predominate strand, it has been associated with more severe flu seasons.
4. The effectiveness of the current flu vaccine is on 62%.
I also found an interesting article that the nerdy nurse wrote on whether employers should be able to make it mandatory that healthcare workers get the flu vaccine. A lot of the hospitals around here have already made it mandatory for the employees to receive the vaccine unless they medically cannot, and it is pretty controversial. Those who do not receive the vaccine are required to wear a mask for the entire flu season. In my opinion, it’s pretty crappy to be required to get a vaccine especially one that so many feel does more harm than good. But at the same time, we took an oath to keep patients safe and if that means getting the flu vaccine so that you do not accidentally infect someone, then so be it.
I am a Bachelor fanatic. I have watched almost every season. There were a couple of seasons that I missed (I don’t know what I was thinking). It’s like a car wreck that you cannot take your eyes off of. I have most of the Bachelor alumni on my twitter page and pull it up during show so that I can watch the live tweets. I read the spoilers. Yeah I admit it. So I believe I know who Sean picks in the end but I am not going to spoil it for anyone who happens to read this. I don’t read everything about every episode but I do read who the person ends up with.
Last Monday was the premier of Sean Lowe’s season.
You know what makes him so awesome? He is from Dallas, Texas. He is also a family man. I know all guys say that when they are trying to get laid, but he really seems genuine. I am really looking forward to this season because I think if anyone can make a good pick on this show it is him.
Here are my favorite girls so far.
Of course Kacie B. She was previously on Ben’s season. They always seemed like a weird pair to me, but I think she would be awesome with Sean. She apparently met Sean at one of the Bachelor reunions they do a few weeks before the show. I think she really handled herself well with all the girls.
I love how real she is. She isn’t an aspiring model or actress, although she is pretty enough to be. She owns a salon and has two kids. She seems really sweet and like the girl next door type.
My favorite. Lesley. She is pretty and funny, but didn’t overdo the “meeting Sean” part. I don’t think she got enough TV time this episode though. She brought a football to meet Sean and had him bend over in front of her while she called out “blue 42” (I am not a football person so I don’t know what that is lol) so that she could check out the goods. She looked very pretty the first night. Here she is meeting Sean.
Lindsay. I think she is really cute. The wedding dress thing was a little over the top for me although it was pretty funny. She also gets a little too drunk during the night, but who hasn’t had that night? What really changed my mind about her was watching the previews. It looks like she turns out to be really cool.
And Sarah. Who couldn’t love Sarah? She is beautiful, smart, courageous, down to earth, and has overcome an issue that most of us will never understand.
Ok, most controversial lady on the show:
I have to admit I liked Tierra this episode. She is very energetic and happy. What I have seen from the previews, she goes off her rocker a little. I guess we will see in the next few weeks.
I am really excited for this season and I am excited to start recapping the episodes and giving my opinion on them.
I would love to hear everyone else’s opinion also, leave a comment or a link to your post if you have one on the Bachelor.
I read this book in one day, I couldn’t put it down! Its about a paramedic who is going through a divorce. The marriage fell apart because of their infants death a few years prior. All he has left is saving lives and he is passionate about it. While responding to calls, a red headed reporter often shows up and they end up falling in love.
The calls that these guys respond to are sometimes touching and sometimes hilarious. Hello, a drug dealer who got shot in the nether regions when a drug deal went bad. The book had me waiting for the next 911 call. The characters are well developed and really start to care for them. The main character has some great one-liners, he had me laughing out loud several times.
It was a little hard to read at first since it was originally written for a screenplay, but I quickly got it down and didn’t even notice.
There are two more Trauma Junkie books by Tom Hobbs that I am looking forward to reading soon.
